Bow Baptist Church Today
Bow - the church has been here since 1785, when Bow was just a village outside London.
Baptist - means we baptise (put under water - but only for a very short time!) people who believe in Jesus and follow him (and agree to be baptised).
Church - means not so much a building but a group of people, of Christians - especially, a gathering of Christians focussed on Jesus.
Our Sunday services (or meetings) are quite straightforward: they include singing, praying and a message from the Bible. They last for around one hour.
We put no pressure on people so if you just want to sit at the back and listen for a while, that's no problem. We won't ask you to do anything or stand up and say who you are or anything like that.
We have two Sunday school classes, covering children from creche to year 7. All children are welcome to join in.
After the meeting, there is always tea/coffee and things to eat like sandwiches, cake, biscuits and sometimes lunch. Of course, there is no charge.
On Tuesdays there is a Parent/Carer & Toddler group 'The Cookie Jar' for pre-school children from 10-11.30 am.
We're a small but international group of people. We have worked closely with a Chinese church, London Chinese Baptist Church, since 2004 and strongly believe that the good news of Jesus is for everyone - wherever they come from, whatever they've done.
We aim to be Bible-centred & Jesus-centred (they go together), to love God and help people.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at [email protected] - and we won't send you emails forever after, unless you want us to.
